Are all rough
diamonds the same?
Answer from Our Master Cutter
Experts agree that diamonds are somewhere between one and four billion years old (25% to 75% of the age of the earth). Most diamonds are formed at pressures and temperatures found only deep within the earth’s mantle. But a precious few, less than a fraction of a percent of all the diamonds mined, are found at much higher pressures and temperatures. This unique carbon rich environment allows for the slow and uninterrupted growth of the crystal, giving it superior structural qualities, optical purity and transparency. These magic crystals can be identified by their predictable shape, the octahedron.
For thousands of years, long before diamonds were cut, these glassy perfectly formed crystals would be sought after and revered by the ancients who believed in their power and energy to heal and protect.
These are the crystals that are destined to become Hearts On Fire diamonds.
