Production planner

SUMMARY
The Production Planner serves as the main point of contact for the sales team on all MTO builds and is responsible for figuring out solutions for any and all issues that could result in missed delivery dates.  This person works closely with the Production Planning Supervisor and Senior Production Planner to monitor orders as they go through the vendor life cycle and to problem solve any vendor-related issues. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
• Work with Production Planning systems to develop and maintain relationships with assigned vendors; monitor production schedules of those vendors for confirmed ship dates and general promised delivery dates
• Initiate action plans and rectify all situations which could result in missed delivery dates and or quality issues
• Create, distribute, monitor, expedite, and deliver production orders for assigned MTO Pools in accordance with confirmed delivery dates
• Coordinate with vendors on continuing production flow by solving vendor problems during production including metal and diamond needs  
• Act as a primary point of contact for sales and merchandising for all inquiries regarding product availability, production schedules, manufacturing questions, and general inventory 
• Monitor and order metal for MTO builds; coordinate supply of metal to vendors as needed 
• Escalate vendor identified production issues (manufacturability and/or design) that occur during mass production to the appropriate position or department, i.e. Product Development.
• Product review input, inventory movement, SKU review 
• Participate in monthly inventories 
• Assist Production Supervisor or Production Manager with special projects as needed
• Backup coverage to support all open production

• Comfortable working with deadlines in a fast paced and demanding environment.
• Desire to work cooperatively with department colleagues and others in the organization.
• Experience using, and proficiency with, software applications, such as ERP systems, spreadsheets and manufacturing management software systems.
